Located in the South Hills of Pittsburgh just four miles past South Hills Village on Route 19 is the Happel Laser & Vein Centre. It was founded by John L. Happel, Jr., M.D. who has been in active practice in the Pittsburgh area, specializing in vascular surgery since 1986. Dr. Happel is board certified in general surgery and is also board certified in vascular surgery. In 1985 he was the only candidate chosen from the entire country to fullfill the requirements for the vascular surgical fellowship at the world renowned Mayo Clinic. Dr. Happel served as Chief of Surgery at UPMC South Side Hospital. He also served as Director of the Noninvasive Vascular Laboratory and as Director of the Skin Healing Center.

The Centre is managed by his wife, Niki Happel, R.N., a graduate of Duquesne University, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She also worked with Dr. Happel in the operating room as his first surgical assistant. Niki takes great pride in personally attending to all of their patient's needs and concerns when scheduling appointments. She plays an integral part in helping with insurance billing and acts as a liasion with the primary care physicians. With a warm and friendly personality she provides close personal attention to all of their patients.
