Radiofrequency Closure

The recovery is quick and painless. Symptoms are relieved immediately.

Radiofrequency ablation of the saphenous veins is also known as the Venefit procedure in the United States. It involves the closure of the saphenous vein using radiofrequency energy.

Radiofrequency energy heats and seals the saphenous vein shut. Later, the vein is slowly absorbed by the body.

This minimally invasive varicose vein procedure is well tolerated. It usually is significantly less painful than laser during the post treatment healing period. Pain medications are rarely required at all.

Radiofrequency Closure

Radiofrequency generates less heat compared to laser during the closure process. Less heat means less collateral damage and therefore less pain afterwards. Eventually the body absorbs the treated vein.

Blood is rerouted to normal nearby healthy veins. Your venous circulation is improved.

Radiofrequency Closure

Like the laser treatment, a small catheter is introduced inside of the vein. It is also done under ultrasound guidance. No sutures and no residual scarring is the expected outcome.

Closure of the saphenous vein with radiofrequency usually is the first step in the treatment of varicose veins. After the saphenous veins are closed, further treatment is usually required to completely remove the surface branches which are the saphenous tributaries.

Those subsequent treatments are done with either injections of medicine into the unwanted remaining veins (sclerotherapy) or removal of the surface veins through tiny mini incisions (phlebectomy).

This replaces the painful stripping operation which is no longer performed.

The radiofrequency varicose vein treatment procedure usually takes less than forty minutes. It is done in the comfort of the office setting under local anesthesia.

The recovery is quick and painless. Symptoms are relieved immediately. You can return to work and conduct normal activities immediately with minimal disruption of your busy life.

Anti-inflammatory medications are not usually required after doing a radiofrequency ablation. Narcotic pain medication is also not necessary.

Commercial insurance companies and Medicare cover the Venefit radiofrequency closure procedure. It has excellent long term scientifically proven results for efficacy and safety.
